SOCHA Collective ​

During the 2023–2027 policy period, Junior Mthombeni is an important artistic collaborator within our organisation.

​

Alongside creations with Jr.cE.sA.r, such as Vaderlandloos, he is also developing a remarkable, valuable, and dynamic trajectory at theater arsenaal with SOCHA/ON FIRE, in collaboration with theater arsenaal and KVS.

SOCHA (Junior Mthombeni and Tom Kestens), together with their guest artists and performers, have already created six electrifying ON FIRE evenings over the past two seasons, as well as a widely noticed appearance at Theater Aan Zee 2023 in Ostend. SOCHA strives for an ambitious blend of people, generations, cultures, and disciplines — much like the streets of the new city itself, in all its glory, rawness, and inequality.

In the 2024–2025 season, this trajectory continued with a seventh ON FIRE evening at theater arsenaal in autumn, followed in spring by the sizzling co-production Burning City (SOCHA, hetpaleis, KVS, and theater arsenaal).
